As a school we have adopted LASER’s Independent Living qualification suite which is available at Entry 1, Entry 2 and Entry 3 and comes in Award and Certificate sizes. The qualifications are designed to develop and foster the life and learning skills. These qualifications are ‘nested’ qualifications (i.e. credits achieved for an Award can contribute towards achievement of a Certificate). Appropriate for learners with learning difficulties or disabilities the qualifications are available to learners of any age. These qualifications are started at Key Stage Five. They are offered in a range of curriculum areas including: Drama, ICT, Numeracy, Literacy, Design Technology, Dance, Physical Education, RHSE, Art, Cultural Studies and Music.

We have extended the use of Pearson Edexcel Controlled Assessments to KS4. We begin our accreditation journey at KS4, with the potential to build on this achievement and to demonstrate progress at Key Stage Five. We offer discrete, Functional skills Entry Level qualifications in ICT, Maths and English. We also offer the highly prestigious Duke of Edinburgh award, as well as Level 1 and 2 Food Hygiene. This last year we were delighted to support one of our KS5 students in achieving  Grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics.
